Assalamu  Alaykom,

It is with great sadness and heavy heart-feelings that Al-Azhar Islamic Foundation announces the passing away of Dr. M. Cherif Bassiouni on September 25th, 2017 at 8:40 am.

The janaza prayer will be held at the Muslim Community Center (MCC) on 4380 N. Elston in Chicago, tomorrow (Tuesday 9/26/2017) at 1:30 p.m.

The burial Time is at 2:00 pm at Dignity Memorial Park Cemetery: 9900 Gross Point Road, Skokie, IL. 60076 

Professor Bassiouni has been active in Islamic, Arab, and Egyptian causes for decades. He worked with and helped to establish numerous organizations to serve these causes on the national and local level. 

He is well known for his work in International Criminal Justice and bringing some modern day war criminals to justice in particular the war crimes in Bosnia.  A large number of human rights investigators were trained by or worked for Professor Bassiouni in investigated cases of abuse around the world.

May God bless his soul, shower him with His Mercy and Accept him in His Paradise.
